Weekly Wednesday Essentials: Denim Jacket

I have decided to start this thing every week called Weekly Wednesday Essentials. It's where, every week, I'll share with you an item that I believe is a staple item in your closet. In case you don't know what a staple item is in this case, it means a necessity, basically. For the first week, the Weekly Wednesday Essential is the denim jacket. The denim jacket has been rising in popularity this spring, and it can go with a lot of outfits! Just not jeans, that's too much denim in one outfit. But if you wear it with a dress or some colorful pants or a skirt it will look great. For example, for this outfit I paired the jacket with some teal pants and a navy shirt with flip flops with the same colors in it.

Denim jackets can be worn for many events. It has the rare quality of being casual and nice at the same time, if you wear it the right way. Of course, you wouldn't wear a denim jacket to a very nice restaurant or to the pool, but you can wear it to the mall, a party, hanging out, maybe a dance, school (if it's allowed) or just out and about.

This is why I think it's an important item to have in your closet, and if you don't own one, go buy one RIGHT NOW! I got mine from Aeropostale for my birthday, but you can get denim jackets at many places. Macy's, H & M, American Eagle, Forever 21, Old Navy, Gap, the places you can get them are endless. And they're not that much money - some come as low as even $23.99! It will be a small price to pay for all the use you get out of it and how much you'll love it. Maybe with summer coming up it's you don't want to get it, but definitely get it once summer's over and fall approaches.

Should I continue the Weekly Wednesday Essentials?

OOTD: Lazy Day

Sunday was a very lazy day for me. My sister had a sleepover the night before, and they were literally up all night. All of us were tired. My mom and stepdad went out for the day, so it was just my sister and me. I did homework, cleaned, and did dishes. But I also read a book. I've been reading this series The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which, by the way, is an excellent series, and I'm on the last book! Almost done.

But I wanted to share with you the comfy outfit I wore that day. It doesn't look super comfy, but it was.

(one of my adorable cats :D)

(I am really engrossed in this book, haha)

(the last book in the series)

It was a great day. It went by fast, but still, great day. I just hung out and lazed around all day without anyone bothering me. Sometimes we all need that.

Get the look:
Shorts are from Aeropostale here. The crop top tank top is from American Eagle, but it is old. And the blue tank top is just from Aeropostale.

Sorry if this post wasn't up to par, I am really tired but I needed to post this. I really need to get to bed, though, I have a huge Geometry test tomorrow. I have some really great posts coming up this week, though! :)

How did you spend your Sunday?

Fabulous Friday Fashion

I am aware that it is not Friday, and that it is Saturday and maybe even Sunday in some places. I did wear this outfit on Friday. But I simply haven't had the time to blog about it or post about it. But Friday we went to the movies, and I wanted to pick a comfortable but cute outfit. I went through several different outfits before deciding on this one. The navy crop top shirt is one of my favorite shirts.

Sorry there's not as much pictures, we were short on time and the light was bad anyway. It's been raining here where I live all weekend, so it hasn't really been all that sunny. Yet, I live in the Sunshine State.

I'm not the biggest fan of prints, to be honest, I prefer putting together different colors that work. Prints are harder to make outfits for because you need a specific color. But with putting together different colors, I can start with one color and add others. It's really my main style of dressing, as you could probably tell from a few of my other posts.

I would like to apologize for not posting for almost a week. It's been a very busy couple of months for me. First standardized tests, then projects, and I have a HUGE Geometry test on Tuesday to study for. Combine that with chores and only a certain amount of time in the afternoon and I have absolutely no time! At the end of this month, I have End of Course exams and these next few weeks are busy because of events at school.

I'm sorry for going on about that, this blog is about fashion and lifestyle, not really my personal life. I am happy that in a month I will be out of school and have all the time in the world for two and a half months.

As for wearing this outfit, well I just thought it would be a cute outfit to wear to the movies. No one really sees you or what you're wearing so you could wear yoga pants and a shirt and no one could really care less. But as a lover of fashion I always need to put together an outfit for going out.

Get the look:
The blue tank top is one I got from Target awhile ago, but I don't think they have the color anymore. You can get the same style tank top here. The crop top is from Hollister which I got for like $5 a year ago, so the top is probably not available anymore. I'm pretty sure a navy crop top is something you can find at a lot of places. I like to use simple solid color clothing in my outfits because if I bought it a year ago you can probably find something similar because of its simplicity. The capris are from American Eagle, and they're artist crop capris I got on sale almost two years ago. Similar here. My flip flops are navy Kino's that you can only buy in Key West, so you'll probably have to go to Key West to get them; sorry. Or you can get navy flip flops at a lot of places.

I'll probably have another post this weekend on Sunday, or tomorrow I guess. Hope you had a good weekend! What did you do Friday?
