It is now the spring time, officially, and every spring, no matter what the trends are, there are always, ALWAYS, items that are staples in my closet for the spring. I just feel that these are items that are essential for every spring wardrobe, because they’re just classics that are pretty timeless for the season. Things like floral and bright and pastel colors never go out of style in the spring.
1. Anything floral
Basically anything that has any kind of bright, colorful floral pattern will do. A floral dress, a floral skirt, floral flats, floral bag, whatever. I do tend to stick to smaller patterns, usually, because I’m not a big fan of huge, busy patterns. But floral has always had its place in the fall, and the summer too. It just makes you think of flowers, which symbolize new life in the spring. I just also love floral prints a lot.
2. A pair of colorful wedges
I love wedges. Enough said. They are my favorite type of heel, because they are more comfortable, and give height, and aren’t impossible to walk in. And I think colorful wedges are super great in the spring because they really add something to a very flowy white dress, and it’s a classic combination. Sure, we all like our neutral black and brown wedges, but why not try something a little different, like a minty blue, a soft lilac, or a bright coral? They really make a statement and can dress up any plain dress.
3. Loose t shirts
I personally don’t rock the loose t shirt as well as other people may, but there’s something laid back but stylish about a loose white t shirt with some skinny jeans, or tied at the waist with a pretty skirt. It’s such an effortless look that looks put together, but not overdone. It’s pretty timeless for any part of the year, but it’s great for spring, because it’s airy and cool for the warmer weather, but you’re able to easily layer a cute cardigan in case it gets a little chillier, and pairing it with pants also works for those chilly days.
4. Little wristlets, clutches or cross body bags
Let’s be real. No one likes carrying around huge purses full of stuff we don’t need. Frankly, I don’t care for big purses, I love cross body bags! I think they are much lighter, and keep your hands much freer. I consider this a staple year round, but I think trying to condense into a smaller bag is a way to freshen up for spring. I mean, it’s spring cleaning time, right ;)
5. Chambray shirt
Chambray shirts are very classic, and if bought loose can be worn over a tank top and tied at the waist with a skirt for an effortlessly girly and put together look. I don’t own one yet because I’m still on the lookout for the perfect one.
6. Spring dresses
A loose, airy flowy and colorful dress is exactly what you need in the spring. Especially for Easter, or those warm spring nights. Or anytime really. They’re one piece, so they’re basically the lazy girls’ wardrobe staple, because you can throw the dress on with some sandals and voila, you look fantastic. I have recently started bringing myself to like dresses again. For several years I was a shorts and leggings girl.
7. Shorts galore
There’s nothing better about spring than it getting back to shorts weather, especially with all the cute shorts that are to be found everywhere! If you ever find yourself looking at shorts, buy them for the spring. You won’t regret it. My favorites are American Eagle shorts, by the way.
8. A cute new bathing suit
We're back to swimming season now, why not go pick up that super cute bikini you've been eying? I already have, just so you know. It as from American Eagle and it's so darn cute! I also kind of want one of those Triangl Swimwear bathing suits.
These are just some of my spring staples that are just timeless and always will look good. Trends change, and you can adjust the style of these things to the trends, whether it’s a bold crazy print, a bright color, or a looser or tighter fitting style. These pieces will never fail you, no matter what the trends are.
